Windows and Doors

Tags :

Poland is among the leaders of windows and doors producers in Europe and, in some export segments, takes the first place in the old continent. Currently there are about 2,500 doors and windows manufacturers in Poland. Polish companies utilize the latest technologies and solutions available on the market and their prices are extremely attractive for foreign customers, which makes them competitive internationally.

The current level of production of doors and windows in Poland is estimated at over 21 million units yearly, with the production of windows alone of over 13 million units per year. Poland is the fourth largest manufacturer of the most popular wooden and PVC windows.

Polish companies exported windows and doors worth 1.15 billion Euro in 2013, up almost 11% from 2012 and nearly four times more than in 2004. In the European comparison, the result was second only to Germany. Italy, which ranked third, achieved foreign sales value of “only” EUR 0.5 bln. 61% of  the overall exports were windows and about 18% were doors. The other joinery product groups had much smaller percentage of the export sales.

Over last year, exports grew in all product categories (PVC, wood, aluminum, cast iron or steel), but it is worth noting that wood products makers enjoyed the biggest increase of as much as 21.35%. A closer look at the Central Statistical Office of Poland’s data shows that this growth is mostly driven by the rising exports of wooden windows which in 2013 reached almost 30%, while the increase in the value of wooden doors exports was marginal, less than 1%. Nevertheless, wooden windows and doors had the biggest share in the Polish exports, replacing PVC products, which had held the lead for many years. One should also note the 17.17% increase in aluminum products sales abroad. Poland is also a worldwide leader in manufacture of roof windows.

It is worth mentioning that the production capacity of Polish windows and doors manufacturers is currently running at the rate of 70-80%. Therefore if needed, in a short time, these manufacturers are able to produce a much larger number of doors and windows without costly investments in new machinery.

Polish doors and windows were sold in more than 90 countries around the world, but mainly in the European Union, which counts for 95% of Polish exports. Wooden doors and windows are mainly addressed to the United Kingdom, Denmark and Scandinavia. On the other hand PVC doors and windows are mostly sold in Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
